Over the past few years, there was been an increase in home health care and hospice care agencies in York County and Adams County. And while the basic services offered between the various home health care and hospice agencies may seem comparable, it’s important to know that there are some fundamental differences between the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove and other local home health and hospice agencies.
Not all of these agencies are non-profit organizations. In fact, several of them are for-profit franchises, which means they are overseen by a corporate office located somewhere else in the U.S. The big decisions for that agency are not made locally and are made with the financial bottom-line in mind. Not the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove! We are proud to be an independent, community based, non-profit organization. We receive our funding through the United Way of York County as well as from the generosity of individual donors as well as community organizations and businesses. These donations help us fund care for patients who are unable to pay. Last year, the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove provided nearly $100,000 in charity care.
Another difference that sets the VNA apart is our high patient satisfaction rate (98%). We regularly receive positive comments from grateful clients/patients or the families of clients/patients who we have cared for. We recently received the following comments on a satisfaction survey from a gentleman whose father was a VNA Hospice patient:
Words can’t express the wonderful care my father received from VNA. I received a phone call after every visit, or if I was at the home, the VNA took time to sit and explain to me everything that was going on.
On the day of my father’s passing, there were so many people there from VNA that offered all kinds of assistance. It was as though my dad and my family were the most important people on earth. I will always remember this.
I will never hesitate to suggest the VNA to family and friends. I think the entire staff is wonderful and have made such a difficult time a little easier.
It is important to remember that you, as the client/patient or loved one of the client/patient, ALWAYS have a choice in the agency that will provide you or your loved one with home health or hospice care. Most physicians have a preference about which agency they will refer to. And while the VNA has the support of many local physicians, it is important that you specify that you want home health or hospice care from the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove. If it is important to you let the doctor know that you prefer the VNA. And remember, the choice is always yours.
Accept no imitations. The VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove is the area’s original “visiting nurse” and we have been since the area’s first visiting nurse, Florence DeHaven, was hired in 1914. We have weathered the test of time and are still standing 100 years since we were first chartered as an organization. We have changed with the times and continue to do all we can to ensure our clients and patients receive the best care possible.
We aren’t the best because we’ve been around the longest – we’ve been around the longest because we’re the best.
Sincerely,
Linda Baile, President & CEO
VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove
