The American author, Ann Douglas, once wrote that, "Home is an invention on which no one has yet improved ". I think she is right. Home is the most personal place, which makes it the perfect place to receive medical care. At the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, it is definitely about home, but more importantly it’s about people; our patients, staff, Boards, physicians and community supporters.
For nearly 100 years, our amazing and highly trained staff has been providing home health and hospice services that offer choice and flexibility to patients and families. Every case is special. Each one has its own level of complexity, varying needs, and hopes for the future. Therefore, our organization has become increasingly specialized to take care of our patients' needs.
If you are at home recovering from surgery or have a major illness, and your doctor orders skilled in-home nursing care... you can ask for VNA by name! After an assessment of your needs, a personalized plan of care is developed for you. During each visit, the nurse assesses your condition, provides treatments, and monitors medications. You and your family are informed about the recovery process and ways your family can assist in your care. VNA is there for you.
I will be contributing to this Blog on a regular basis to keep everyone in the community informed about anything new at the VNA. So check back often. If you are interested in hearing my take on any particular topic… all you have to do is ask. I’ll be happy to respond.
I look forward to the dialogue.
Sincerely,
Linda Baile, President & CEO
