Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are an important part of our team at the Visiting Nurse Association of Hanover & Spring Grove. Volunteers fill a wide range of roles, such as providing patient support to performing clerical tasks. If you live in the area and are considering becoming a volunteer, please contact us at the VNA since we offer different volunteer opportunities.

Hospice Patient Care Volunteers spend their time with hospice patients. Hospice volunteers travel to the place where the patient currently resides. This could be the patient’s home, a family member’s home, or a long-term care facility. Hospice volunteers do not provide any medical or hands-on care. The volunteers’ visits allow caregivers the opportunity to run errands, attend appointments, catch up on household duties, or simply rest. During your visits, you could be reading, providing a comforting touch, playing/singing music, or being a calm presence.

Hospice Veteran Volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with Veteran patients and their families. The Vet to Vet program aims to pair recruited Veteran Volunteers with hospice patients who have been identified as Veterans. Veteran volunteers are also able to present the “We Honor Veterans” certifications and gifts to the patient.

Benefits Of Hospice Volunteering

Hospice provides unparalleled support and presence during difficult situations. Being a hospice volunteer allows you to contribute to a good cause and help make your community a better place. If a family member has ever received services through hospice, you can give back and make a difference in the lives of others by volunteering.

The rewards of volunteering with our Hospice Program can last a lifetime. The patients and families that you will connect with will enrich your life and your service will bring comfort to theirs. Volunteering cultivates purpose and value for you and our clients.
